With a nod to the AlCam series and Superzeroes, Al and Chris are separated - Al is repairing wheely bins for the Council and Chris is embezzling his way to luxury. Everything changes when Al creates a machine that can allow them to travel through space and time (but not very well). Together they visit a range of dull places.

Their plans for half-baked exploration go awry when Al's evil future self, on the run from the United Nations, and accompanied by Chris's evil future self, travel back in time and break Al's machine, leaving the nice Al and Chris lost in space and time. Can they find and defeat their evil future selves before their evil future selves defeat them?

The entire show was shot across two days - at the start of day one, we had no idea what we were going to make, and at the end of day two we'd filmed every last bit of it. Parts of it were storyboarded on a set of post-it notes on a train.

The DVD

The DVD is stripped down and raw (that means we couldn't think of much stuff to go on it). But then, what more could you need when it already contains the pivotal piece of improvised amateur cinematography of the 21st century?

• Big Day Out, presented from start to finish in the correct order.
• Full commentary by Al and Chris.
• Maybe the deleted scene set in a European market.
• Absolutely nothing else.
