In the 1960s, the University of Leeds (like many other universities at the time) underwent a large programme of expansion. The new buildings it erectedd were designed to look like the future as it was seen back then - the reasoning being that this is where the leaders and thinkers of the future would be educated. The result is a blocky orgy in concrete.
